Message Outline

INTRODUCTION: The scene of chapter 5 is set in heaven, preparatory to the events of Great Tribulation. Since the church is in heaven with him, it surely could not go through the Great Tribulation down here on the Earth. The throne was the center of chapter 4. The Lion and the Lamb, both of whom represent CHRIST, all the center of chapter 5. CHRIST is the Lamb on the throne. He is both sovereign and savior. HE is in full charge of all the events which follow in this book. Let us not lose sight of Him. [JESUS] I. JESUS IS EXCLUSIVELY WORTHY (Revelation 5:1-4,5) No “man” is worthy because we’re all born in Adam; slaves to Satan. *The child of a slave is a slave. *JESUS, the second Adam, came to regain what the first Adam lost. Had JESUS not been born of a VIRGIN, He would have been a son of Adam and would be a slave to sin. (1 Peter 1:18,19) JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO TO HEAVEN!!! (John 14:6; Acts 4:12) II. JESUS IS EXCEEDINGLY WORTHY A. He is worthy because of creation. (Revelation 4:11) *It was all created by and for Him. B. He is worthy because of Calvary. (Revelation 5:6,7) *The Lamb, JESUS, is the only one who can take the book and open the seals. John sees a redeeming Lamb. John sees a resurrected Lamb. John sees a reigning Lamb. -Seven horns: omnipotent -Seven eyes: wisdom: omniscient -Seven spirits omnipresent C. He is worthy because of conquest. *Prevailed, in Greek, is nikoa which means victory. Where translated in English Nike. III. JESUS IS ETERNALLY WORTHY (REVELATION 5:8-10;13,14) -THERE NEVER WAS A TIME when HE WAS NOT WORTH IT; THERE NEVER WILL BE A TIME WHEN HE IS NOT Worthy. -THIS is heavenly praise you symbolized by harps and bowls. *HARPS- the expression of worship *Bowls of incense – our praise and our prayers. (Philippians 2:18; Psalm 16:10; Hebrews -These prayers that have already been prayed. Perhaps by your grandmother, Mother, grandfather, father, Saints, etc. There is a song Heaven. This the refrain of the song: WORTHY IS THE LAMB (v.12) -We will sing about the blood of the Lamb. -We will sing a new song now that we are redeemed in glory. Every knee should bow, Every tongue should confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD! CONCLUSION: JESUS is seen in this passage as the Lion and the Lamb. The Lamb refers to His 1st coming; The Lion to His 2nd coming. The Lion is symbolic of His majesty; The Lamb is symbolic of His meekness. As a Lion He is Sovereign; As a Lamb He is Savior. As a Lion He is Judge; As a Lamb He was judged. The Lion represents the government of God; The Lamb represents the grace of God. CONCLUSION: Verse 7, 13,14 Again Jesus has moved from His place of intercessor of the church, because the church is in heaven with Him He moves to the throne to judge the world in righteousness before He reigns in righteousness. WORTHY IS THE LAMB TO BE PRAISED. HALLELUJAH TO LAMB OF GOD!!!
